Hello, listeners. Now, I want to introduce you to another podcast that we make here at
Listener. It is fabulous. It is hosted by the glorious Sarah Grimberg, who is with me
now. Now, Sarah, I want to know all about a life of greatness.
Jess, it's so lovely to talk with you. My podcast, A Life of Greatness, is where my
guests and I share our research, knowledge and experiences to help my listeners cultivate
an extraordinary existence. So like you, we don't shy away from the deeper topics.
And I've chatted with people like Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey, who talks
about religion and spirituality and how that's played a big part in his life. And I've also
talked with well-renowned grief psychologist David Kessler about death, and musician Vance
Joy and Iceman Wim Hof have shared their experiences around moving through grief. So what's really
important to me is that my listeners walk away with simple tips, habits, practices and
strategies to help them unlock their best self. And I'm always talking about mindset.
I did so with Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo, as well as neuroscientist Joe Dispenza and
comedians Hamish Blake and Dave Hughes. So like your podcast, there is a lot of deep
wisdom to be found in each episode. And I really hope your listeners enjoy A Life of
Greatness as much as I do recording it. Oh, I reckon they will. What amazing guests you've
had. And I love that notion of giving people tips that they can take away with them and
that they can incorporate into their everyday life. Yes, it's one of the most fulfilling
things that I have ever done. And I hope that everyone who listens to it is able to live
their greatest life. Oh, so do I. Well, let's take a listen now.
I just find myself constantly trying to slow my brain down to be in this like one tiny
moment here. Not trying to take a photo of it, not trying to save it, even though that's
often my instinct. I think back like some of my most successful races, it's been when
I'm relaxed and I'm having fun, you know, if I've got friends there and it's like just
really enjoying that moment and kind of being in the zone. The one common denominator for
happiness is that people just need something to look forward to. They need to have some
reason to wake up in the morning, no matter how minuscule it is, a little bit of purpose.
In each moment, we're choosing our thoughts. We know that thoughts are just stories that
we tell ourselves. And those stories can change based on our conscious awareness of them.
Gratitude is the ability to pay attention to what you've got, not worry about what
you don't have. And we struggle with that in Australia. In fact, the more privileged
they are, the more we find ourselves thinking, if I had that, then I'd feel happy. If I had
that, then I'd feel happy. If I get this, then I'd feel happy. That's not how happiness
works. I walked off stage really unhappy. You know why? Because I wasn't living in the
moment. I was trying to hold on to a past glory. It was just ridiculous. And again,
a lesson in it doesn't matter what's happened in the past. Just enjoy the moment you're in.
How amazing. You do not want to miss that incredible podcast. And of course,
I will be back next week with another episode of the Jess Rowe Big Talk Show.
