hey guys welcome back to ebbs and flows we're talking about the highs and lows
ins and outs fairs and doubts on and off the field my name is isaac but you can call me ice
shout out to sporting news australia for helping me put this production together
got a couple doggies in the house carez and never really thanks for jumping on boys
pretty good game on the weekend uh first half obviously we talked about what's it like playing
at belmore and let's talk about that game against the broncos great first half sneaky little double
playing at the fullback um what was your thoughts on the game uh always it's always mad playing at
belmore i don't think you can get there anywhere else um just the fans were as crazy as all the
lebos but you don't get that anywhere else so yeah it's always good to play there wish you could play
a couple more games there here but yeah just got to enjoy the moment when we're there um i thought
you know we're in the game for the first half but we're just sort of missing those little moments
in the game where we can turn the tide and yeah it's sort of showing on the scoreboard at the end
of the game so yeah what's your thoughts yeah bro i love playing at belmore man um how come they
can't play more games is it just the way
it's set up in terms of car parking or i think stuff like that but i think it's also just um the
corporate side i think i think a and z yeah they don't sort of have the corporate boxes and that
to facilitate the nrl games i think they lose money to be honest playing games there but
oh okay just do it for the fans so yeah we need to play more games there it's the best
you got all the drums going off it's just fans are so passionate man it's the best yeah it just
it just feels like a proper home game i reckon yeah there's a and z like it's good but it's
sort of sharing yeah and you're sharing it with other teams as well so it always always at belmore
as well every every day so it's like home yeah i love that um obviously joshie reynolds sort of
just retired do you want to sort of give a little rundown on what what it was like to have him at
the club and i remember that photo you had with him as a kid that must have been pretty cool but
what was it like saying goodbye to him yeah it's obviously you know it's unreal obviously when he's
there every day with us watching him as a kid and yeah that photo and then seeing him now training
every day and you know playing with us it's crazy but yeah obviously his career is now done so it's
um yeah it's sad to see him go but the legacy he left behind you know the fans just will never
forget him and the way he plays is you know how a bulldog should play so yeah yeah i love that
what's your thoughts on him yeah but i was pretty it's pretty cool to hear like when he was coming
back like i'll get to he's actually in my locker next to me so like it's a cool moment um yeah
the way he plays even still when he was at training where like his body was breaking down
but he just he just wouldn't give up he just competes on everything and yeah i'm just so
grateful that he came back and i got to play a couple games with him what's a lesson that you
learned from him probably just you don't need all the talent in the world um just if you compete
work hard and yeah it'll get you a long way look what he's done he's probably not the most talented
guy but he's probably the most respected bulldog everyone loves him and he's created such a good
legacy at the club so he just leads with effort all the time
like i used to play against them i used to hate playing him like when it had him and ennis and
then whenever they're at marker like kick chase just chasing around and just always like they
could throw you off their game and the more nitty and gritty it got the better they got and yeah
that's probably what i think he said on his farewell speech he's probably the player you
want to play with as a teammate but then he's a player that everyone hates playing against so
that probably sums him up a bit um so it's pretty big news based around you obviously bulldogs junior
you've had
plenty of raps coming around you over the past couple years and i think this has been your
really breakout season i don't realize how quick you were before one and we've always heard about
the talent but you're really starting to come through now why would you change now i thought
it was just a good opportunity for me to get a fresh start just sort of change it up a bit i've
been there for four years now and i feel like i just need to change the scenery um just to help
me get to that next level and um yeah i always thought i'd play for the bulldogs forever to be
um so it was definitely a tough decision growing up in the area i played for the bulldogs since i
was like 13 so it's definitely a tough decision and um i didn't really think i'd get too many
opportunities to um go away and try something different and probably the biggest guy like
wayne bennett sort of uh said he wanted me so that was probably a big factor especially he hasn't got
too many years left so it'd be pretty silly not to take up that offer what was it like sort of
behind the scenes was there um obviously you're a big player but you've been playing for a while now
behind the scenes was it um obviously you've been playing for the bulldogs but you've been playing for
an offer there from the broncos did you have offers from other clubs obviously you can you
can say what you want in this conversation but what was like behind the scenes because i find
this stuff interesting because i've never wanted it as a player and i just like to hear behind the
scenes or what actually happens yeah i had a few offers um from a few different clubs
uh it was actually one club that wanted me to go like this year at the start of the year straight
away but i sort of you know i really wanted to say for the bulldogs yeah it was a sydney club
oh sort of sydney club yeah and um yeah i just wanted to stay at the bulldogs i thought doing
something really nice and um i was really finding myself in the pre-season i thought i was gonna
have a good season so i wanted to stay there and then um yeah it was happened real quick hey like
um the dolphins sort of just showed a bit of interest they didn't really think
too much of it because i was from sydney my whole life that it wasn't really sure if i'd
make the move obviously it's a big move so and i told my manager that um
yeah
obviously be interested um be pretty pretty silly not to take up the meeting with wayne bennett so
uh we had a meeting and then um yeah to be honest straight off the meeting i knew
i knew that was the go away yep just knew straight away just knew straight away i don't know just
just a weird sort of feeling um scottie's way of words old wayne so what does he say like i don't
know he just it's just sort of like all about him doesn't really have to say too much and
obviously his resume speaks for himself so um yeah i just knew straight off
that meeting that um i was probably a big chance of leaving there it's going there and um yeah it
sort of happened within a week or two i ended up going there in the bi-week and um getting it all
done yeah that because i was trying to podcast you the week before too wasn't i so that'd have
been interesting yeah um was it hard telling the boys and let him around go that was so hard a like
get some tears close especially telling zero like i had to bring sarah up the same like couple hours
after and yeah i just respect him so much he's a good guy he's a good guy he's a good guy he's a good guy
he's a good guy he's a good guy he's a good guy he's a good guy he's a good guy he's a good guy he's a good guy
much bro like he's such a good coach and he's um bro he's he's made me like such such a better
player just from this year just all the systems that he's um brought in and yeah i've learned so
much from him probably the most i've learned since playing in nrl i've learned this year
than in my past like whole four years so yeah that was the hardest this year hardest things
calling him yeah and he's a great bloke i got i got to play with him sir when i played and
he's always been the same dude but it's good to see him sort of get a crack at the top job
are you all
you're sorry next question whoop i know you're versatile player what's what position you're
gonna go play up there uh i think i'm meant to go play center up there but yeah obviously i'm
open to anything i also love playing fullback played there the last couple weeks so that's
probably my favorite position just have a lot of fun there sort of reminds me of being a kid again
just following the ball and you're always in the play so yeah i like fullback it's fullback so
center fullback what's your what's your 5-8 after that yeah 5-8 i can yeah just run the ball
so
so
I was looking at your history i've read about your history into nrl like i watch you play now
it almost seems obvious that you're a first grader the way that you carry the ball the yardage and the
passion that you play with but your pathway into first grade wasn't as smooth as a lot of people
would think do you want to talk about that yeah it was a bit different um i didn't make i didn't
really make howard mats i was with dogs i was a dogs junior so you know played all my i've made
the development squads and all that and yeah i didn't make howard mats i didn't make howard mats
and you know as a young kid you think you have to make all these all these materials you know all my
mates from my club was making them and i was like okay if they're making them like i don't think i
can but then i remember speaking with parents and they said just you know go back to club just keep
playing and you're still young and i remember speaking to josh manśl about it and he never
like i remember i heard he never made nothing as well when he was younger was he your um idol
growing up um he was one of them only um purely because of the fact that he never he just never
made anything and it just motivated me to engage with him yeah and um to get out into the field like in terms of any of therm clip plays?
motivated me to keep going but yeah and then sd ball came and then i tried for dogs i remember
trying out for dogs dragons and roosters and then yeah dog said they didn't want me and i made
dragons roosters but then i went to dragons because all my teammates went to roosters and
then i remember i didn't want to go where they were i just wanted to go on my own and i remember
dragons why is that that's kind of like um i just wanted to be you know i didn't i don't know i just
wanted to be out of my comfort zone a bit i knew if i was with them i'm going to be hanging out
with them it was like weird i just wanted to be by myself and i knew dragons weren't actually a
strong team so i said you know if i go to dragons like for sd ball not steelers like actual dragons
if i go to dragons you know i could if i stand out i could stand out because the team wasn't as
strong and then yeah i was a 5-8 growing up my whole life believe it or not so i went there
and then told them that i played 5-8 and then they looked at me said no no you're a center
and then i was like okay and then yeah played a couple games center a couple games 5-8 and that's
when
um north queensland came to the table um dogs came to the table and then much lebanese up in
townsville nah it was a big shock it was a big um big yeah no manush nothing no jana nah um it was
a big shock it was a big big move especially in our culture you know we don't really we don't
move away until we're married from home so i remember yeah when the recruitment manager came
from cowboys he just yeah he it was the best deal it was um all the other deals weren't really nrl
deals and this one was the
back end of the contract was all um like a development in the top 30 so it was just i had
to take it and i said you know it's a fresh start especially as an 18 year old um i just finished
school i said you know all my mates will all go smoking a ghillie it's normal smoking a ghillie
every weekend they you know this was at the end of school going out every week i said you know what
if i go to townsville there's none of that there so i said it's a it's a good thing for me just to
go and i'm there just to play um footy yeah so i went there then obviously played um a trial cup
when he's there i played only one game and then covert happened that's the year where everything
shut down except for nrl and they wanted to put me in the bubble but obviously there was restrictions
so i remember speaking to him saying listen if i'm not playing footy like i'm gonna i'm just gonna
go home and i'll come back when it opens up because i could even work there as well was when
they were really strict so i went back home and then yeah the nuke and then the recruit manager
from cowboys actually went to newcastle oh okay yeah so yeah so he went to newcastle and then he
spoke to me and then said i know you're a family person listen you're a bit closer to home um
i want you to come with me so we i had to try and get released we had to try and yeah it was a bit
of it was a bit of a mess because they didn't want to get rid of me and then yeah so i went to
newcastle and then played there for a bit then covered up and again and then i only played 10
games everyone went to sunny coast i'm gold coast all the boys went to gold coast everything yeah
but that i didn't go because i was a dev play at the time so yeah i just stayed at home um stayed
at newcastle training every day it was hard because you know like covert happened i didn't
go home for like six seven months and like i said it's a bit it's a bit different in
our culture you know very very very close with the family and very rare to move out and stuff
but yeah then i ended up finding my way back to the dogs how'd you get back to the dogs
um as soon as i see i went down to like my junior club and then um the chairman was always telling
me how dogs were into um john curry was telling me how they always wanted me back but it was at
the time it wasn't the right time i think dogs were in a bit of a um you know whenever i was
there a bit of a like
with the board and stuff like that so it wasn't really the right time for me
so then yeah when i was in newcastle i was getting ready for pre-season i thought i had a good
preseason everything and then i just had this gut feeling and i was top 30 at the time i just had
this gut feeling it was a weird um i just i was we're doing edge v edge and i was like third
fourth string and i thought like they told me i needed to put weight on i needed to be more fit
and i was at the time and yeah i just felt like my opportunity wasn't going to be there it was
a weird one so i remember ringing my manager saying i want to leave i said i want to actually
end the year like and then he's like listen like dogs are keen on you now but they can't give you
top 30 because they're full but they'll give you train and trial so yeah so it was a yeah it was a
big risk i'm going to speak my family even my parents were like you sure you want to do this
and i just said you know what like i just need a fresh start i wasn't yeah like i said i wasn't um
yeah i knew i wasn't going to get my opportunity up there so i just came back what was the moment
that i sort of clicked for you where you sort of realized like like obviously there's a bit
of turmoil there getting left out not developing just through the lack of games and covert and and
like that what was the moment for you to sort of realize like yo i could be an actual first grader
or did you always have that confidence in you yeah like i always knew i had the ability it's just
sometimes you just need the opportunity and yeah i always knew i had the ability i always knew i
worked like i trained hard i worked hard and i knew it would come and i'm i've got lots of strong
faith like i'm you know catholic christian so i knew like everything will happen everything happens
for a reason so i knew if i just put my best foot forward i know everything will happen and then
yeah i remember then going
the preseason bulldogs i came late i came like january 22nd or something i had covert as well
that's when everyone started getting a bit so i came and i was yeah i was like you know i wasn't
in shape and stuff but then i just said you know i just play cup and then do hopefully you know go
kill cup and then whatever happens happens yeah and here we are yeah i know i love that um so you
guys you've had a few different coaches over the past couple years and pretty unstable club and um
i know a few coaches that have gone through what makes her a little bit different than the guys
i think just like the system is brought over it makes everything clear
um it just gives us plays a lot of confidence so if you follow the system you'll be right especially
in defense like he's a really good defensive coach and you know those systems of work come from penrith
so you trust them but i think just off the field um he's got that real good balance like he really
cares about your family he takes time to see how you're going and stuff like that and yeah he gets
along with the boys really well is he still tight with money oh i don't know
i know you used to be o.o
I think it was more out of necessity than an actual wage, you know,
but it used to be super tight.
What's your lessons that you've learned from Sero besides what he just said?
Yeah, just brought good confidence out of me in a way.
You know, just brought the qualities I thought I never had,
like leadership and stuff like that, especially coming from the World Cup.
So he helped me heaps with all that and just, yeah, put in faith in me.
So he just said, go out there, you know, do what you do.
And like Abo said, in a way, you know, I've got a really good connection with him
in a way where he just sees how you're going with your family,
sees how everything's going off the field.
So obviously, you know, you play your best footy
when everything's happening off the field.
Has it got a blow up in him?
Nah, nothing crazy.
Nah, not crazy.
Yeah, it's sort of just like that little, you're disappointed.
Yeah, that's even worse.
Yeah, it's worse.
It's like you made your dad angry, bro.
That's the worst feeling ever.
I'm going to go above him.
Gus Gould and similar thing.
I was fortunate enough to have him at Penrith.
What sort of impact does he have at the club?
Because he's got such a, you talked about presence with Wayne Bennett.
He's kind of got that aura about him and we're so used to seeing him on TV
and he articulates himself through words and like he can capture a room.
What's it like having him at the club?
Yeah, it's sort of that all thing.
Like if he walks in the room, the boys are a bit on edge,
especially during video and that.
But he doesn't really say too much.
I think.
If he needs to, he'll just jump in, sort of give some motivation.
He's really good at that, getting the boys pumped up.
So yeah, he doesn't really say too much.
You like him?
Yeah, I like him, bro.
He's good.
Like I said, he doesn't really say too much.
I think everyone thinks he comes and trains us and stuff.
But no, he just comes odd in one of those meetings.
He'll just come in and if he does speak, it's more of a motivation rev up,
just to rev up all the boys.
Yeah.
Former podcaster from YKTR Sports, the big fella,
William Mason.
What sort of impact does he have on the club?
Cool, mate.
William is good.
He comes in here and then when he does come in,
he comes in the training sessions.
Like I was saying to Avo, lucky we're backs because he's with the forwards.
They're just bashing each other and we're catching the ball,
high balls and stuff.
Nah, he just has a lot of passion, obviously, for the club as well,
what he's done for the club.
And he'll let you know about it too.
Yeah, he just brings a lot of passion.
He shows it at training every day and he's not afraid to jump in
and show the boys.
Show the boys how it's done, so.
Does he look all right when he's on the ball?
Yeah, bro, he's still fit, hey.
He's a big human, bro.
He's a big human.
Even when he's in the gym pumping like bicep killer,
he's so massive, bro.
Yeah.
So you heard a pretty, like, when you've been bringing in some new talent,
obviously, we'll talk about a few different players and what sort of impact
they bring into the club.
We'll start with your captain, Reedy.
What's the change he's brought to the club?
Yeah, Reedy's obviously, you know, coming from Parra,
they made the grand final last year, so that experience there,
you know, not many in our team have played finals, played grand finals.
So, yeah, he came, you know, brought his leadership values as a player
and if I'm being honest, he's not the biggest guy and he just, you know that,
you know, he just puts his heart in the jersey.
He goes and just, you know, he made a tackle on the weekend where,
you know, it was a try saver where he just got under, like, someone,
like the guy weighed, like, probably 120 kilos and just got on him,
saved the try.
So he puts his heart every week in, week out and, yeah,
that's what we know that we're going to get from him.
Yeah.
Keeks, obviously, he hasn't had the season that he'd want.
You're pretty excited when you've got that dude on your edge, isn't it?
Yeah, bro, he's scary, eh?
Yeah, I think the big thing about him is just his intensity, bro.
Like, the way he trains every day is the way he plays.
Like, there's, it's over zero, like, it's always 100%.
So I think that's the example he leads by.
He doesn't really talk too much either.
He just leads by his actions and, yeah, bro, he's a beast.
All right, Matty Burden, he's probably the guy who can take you guys
from where you guys are now to that next little spot.
What's it like playing with him?
Yeah, Burdo's, Burdo's Burdo.
Everyone sees what Burdo does.
He's just, you know, he can do anything.
He just, yeah, he can ice moments like no one else can.
I love playing with him.
You know, he's not really the most loudest person,
but, you know, obviously being a leader now, he's developing into that.
But, yeah, I love playing with him.
I know that he's going to, you know, give 100% every time.
What's that kick-catch like when he's sort of knocking him up to you?
Oh, bro, I was there doing it yesterday.
I think I caught one, bro.
It was crazy.
Oh, really?
Just the way he does those.
Like bombs, those torpies and that.
You just don't know where it's going to land.
You know what's good?
If you ever hear him, it lands like 10 metres over there.
It's actually impossible.
Some of these, the boards, at training, it's,
everyone thinks it's high when you see it in the game.
You should see it at training when you're actually right there.
Yeah.
And we're catching it with no pressure.
Imagine, like, that's, I don't know,
lucky we're on his team, man.
I don't know how old he is.
And he can kick like, he'll kick like all day too.
Like, his legs will never get sore.
He'll never get injured.
He'll just kick all day.
He'll be there like half an hour after training, just kicking.
Yeah.
It's crazy.
Their foot has always hit him like sweeter too, bro.
He's got long legs too.
Yeah.
Big feet.
Big feet.
Long toes.
What's the hardest kick to catch?
Is it when it sort of turns over at the top?
Yeah.
When it turns over like that.
Usually his kicks, like, they sort of fade out a certain way
when they turn over.
So you can sort of judge it, but still it's just so hard.
Freaking rattle some dudes.
Yeah, that's crazy.
You can change the game too.
Like, sometimes he just puts one big kick up
and we get the ball back and just change the whole game.
Yeah.
Not many players.
Not many players can do that, so.
Nah.
And it's like the depth too.
So, like, I support the Roosters.
And, like, our kicking game is pretty similar.
You know what I mean?
It's like end over end bomb.
Like, if you're fullback, playing fullback against the Roosters,
you're probably not too worried about the kicking arsenal.
Different when you play Broncos where Wren, he can do whatever with it.
Knaife can do whatever.
Birdo can do whatever.
And distance and higher than everyone else.
It's scary, bro.
Yeah, he can kick you out of trouble a lot of times.
Yeah.
Toby Sexton, he sort of rocked up and made an impact straight off the bat.
What's he like?
Bro, he's, like, real confident, eh?
Like, he came in day one and he wasn't afraid to tell the boys what to do.
Sort of, it was like he's been there from the start of preseason.
Yeah.
For a young guy, he's really confident, especially to come in the way he did
and just jump straight in.
Had a really good game, first game.
And a bit of a random little knock on the week, eh?
Yeah.
Sort of threw him off his game.
Yeah, bro.
Yeah, so that's pretty crazy.
So, you talk about, we're going to talk about you're proud of your culture.
What was it like, that Lebanese experience?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was the best experience of my life.
Like I said, it's a bit different.
You know, you're playing with all the boys who have the same culture as you.
It's just so different.
I love it, honestly.
Like I said, yeah, best experience of my life and going overseas as well.
Just topped it off with all the boys, had the best time and, yeah.
I can imagine what you boys are getting up to.
Lebs, man.
Lebs in England.
Didn't you get robbed, bro?
Yeah, we got robbed, like, two times.
Oh, did you?
It was worse.
I felt bad.
I felt bad for the robber, man.
Worst place to rob.
Yeah, shout out any other team.
Yeah, out of all the countries, you probably want to stay away from the Lebanese and probably
the Samoan and Tongan side.
And he robbed us.
He tried to rob us when, like, eight of the boys were playing cards in the room.
And then this guy just walked in.
That's when all the boys, some people on the massage table just jumped off and chased him.
Because, like, we actually, they actually chased him out of the road with, like, undies
and stuff.
Wait, so, like, how did you guys get robbed?
Like, in your hotel?
Yeah, there was a back door and we got robbed the first time and they took our jerseys,
but then they dumped them on a job sign.
Lucky.
Someone on the job site actually knew one of the boys, so then he said, bro, your jerseys
are here.
And we're all like, what?
And then they stole a couple of stuff and then he came back again, but apparently he
wasn't the same person, but he was just some guy, he just looked like some homeless person,
but he came and then they just opened the door and all the boys had looked at him and
all the boys were like, that's the robber.
And he just ran.
All the boys, like, seven, eight levos just chasing him.
It was just, yeah, poor guy.
They brought him in and everything, but they just, the cops ended up coming and stuff.
We were just like, yeah.
But he was so lost.
He didn't even know where he was.
He had, like, a fake passport.
He had a fake passport, too.
Oh, really?
He had a fake passport.
So, yeah, all the boys, but, yeah.
That's a bit of a gig away.
Right.
I heard you're such a diehard Bulldogs fan that you hate Parramatta that much, that you're
a little bit off Mature Moses before you went into campus, actually.
Who said that?
Very unreliable source.
Nah, nah.
I love him always.
He's good, man.
Yeah.
Obviously, we've got that rivalry with Parra.
You know, it's so good when we beat him.
Like, last year when we beat him, it was probably the best game, especially for the fans.
I like Parra, too.
So, we've got that rivalry.
But, nah.
You know, I didn't really know Mitch too well until World Cup, so I just got up there.
But he's good, man.
He's the best.
It's good to see him doing well, isn't it?
Yeah.
He's good, man.
Yeah.
What about your coach, Michael Chekka?
He obviously comes from Union.
He's coaching.
Is he coaching Argentina right now?
Yeah.
Did we get the game on the weekend?
Nah, I wasn't at the game.
Oh.
I wasn't at the game.
I wanted to go, but...
What's it like getting coached from someone who's not even from Rugby League and has got
such a big name in Rugby Union?
What was that experience like?
Yeah.
He was one of probably the best in terms of how to rev you up and give you belief, coach
I've ever had.
He was in the Roosters system for a while, just being assistant.
He was in the Roosters system ages ago, so he knows a bit of footy, but he doesn't actually
know the ins and outs, but he knows the simple stuff like run hard, tackle hard, all that
stuff.
Yeah.
So, having him there, and we had Robbie Farah, Matt King from Roosters, so his job was literally
to speak to us.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I remember we were versus the New Zealand team, and the way he just spoke to us, yeah,
he made all the boys just believe that you can do it, and you just respect him so much
that you want to play so good under him.
He's been good too, eh?
That game.
That's what I'm saying.
I think it was like 12-6 first half, and then we went in the sheds, and all of us lebs are
looking at you.
Bro, we can win this, bro.
Yeah, it's crazy, mate.
Just need those drums going again, eh?
And believe it or not, I'm not even joking.
We were versus Australia in the final, and I'm not even joking.
Obviously, it's a show.
Australia, you're not going to win.
Like, it's Australia, the team we had.
Like, they'll stack, obviously, and everyone knew that, but the belief he gave, honestly,
believed, like, we all believed we could win.
We actually said, I remember my brother speaking to me saying, do you reckon, I'm like, I'm
telling you now, I reckon we could win.
It's just, the amount of belief he gave the team was unreal, but obviously, Australia's
the best, man.
Yeah, that's pretty crazy.
So, obviously, you're leaving, and you're staying at the Bulldogs.
What's going to be the thing that takes you guys from where you are right now, and where
you're playing finals football, and potentially winning the comp?
Like, what do you think it is?
What do you think you guys are missing just right now?
Well, I don't know.
Who are you?
I don't know.
I feel like it would take a bit of time.
I know, you know, fans, obviously.
It's a passionate fan base, too, bro.
It's been a while now.
Like, I feel like they're probably hearing the same stuff every year, but right now,
you've got Gus in now.
He's been in for a year, and we've got the new coach now.
So, I think that it just...
I think it's going to take time, and, you know, we know as the players that where we
want to go, and we know we'll look back at these days, and, you know, we'll just...
We'll probably laugh about it and say, remember these days when we started losing every game?
But, you know, I have faith, and, you know, I have faith that we will 100% be better,
but it's just a matter of time.
I don't know, but I know that it's going to happen.
So, yeah.
Yeah, I reckon it's on the right track.
Like, from what Siro's done in this whole...
Like, this first year's...
From where it was to where it is now, it's pretty crazy.
Like, not many people see it.
Obviously, the scoreboards aren't telling that story, but, yeah.
I reckon a couple more years with Siro there, we'll be mad.
We'll be playing finals.
He's spoken about this as well.
Like, I think when he got to Penrith, they were sort of in a similar thing,
and now they've won, like, a couple of premierships.
Yeah, 100% their system.
Where do all the Bulldogs juniors come from?
Have you guys got a strong junior base?
Obviously, you guys are, like, prime examples of that, but is there, like, a lot of junior clubs coming?
Yeah.
Yeah, our juniors are pretty packed.
Yeah, it's heaps.
When I was playing, there was, like, three divisions in each age group.
It was packed.
Yeah.
They love footy up there.
Yeah.
There's heaps of clubs in that.
Heaps of clubs, heaps of juniors, and...
It's just the pathway.
The pathway's unbelievable, and, you know, our pathway's actually doing good.
Howard Matt's won the grand final.
Oh, good.
I think our 20s are coming second, the Cubs coming second.
Yeah.
So, which shows, you know, like, we are on the right track.
It just, yeah, takes time.
Yeah.
I've got a note here from one of the boys.
He said you've got a fear of heights or flying.
Is that true?
Heights, yeah.
Heights.
You're scared of flying?
How do you do that?
I don't know.
No, flights, yeah, flights.
Are you scared of flying?
I don't like flying, and I think I've got it from my dad, because my dad doesn't really
like flying, so...
That's why I've never been...
We've never been overseas.
The last time, remember, last year, my first time overseas was a New Zealand trip.
Yeah.
And all the boys were, like, saying, what?
And, yeah, it was my first trip was New Zealand, and my first time actually, like, you know,
obviously New Zealand overseas, but it was England.
That was my first time.
I've never been to Lebanon.
So, yeah, because of my dad...
Who lived on Palms?
I heard it's all time over there.
Oh, it's mad.
It's actually so good there.
Yeah.
It's the best.
I can't wait.
So, yeah, I'll be going there one day.
So, are you sweet with flying and stuff now?
Yeah, now, obviously, you know, going to New Zealand and went to England, so that...
It was...
It's so bad, man.
I don't know how people do it.
Like, 20...
It's 17 hours on a plane, but I just tried to sleep, knock out, but, yeah, I feel like
it's just...
Yeah, I'm good now.
I'm sweet now.
Yeah, that's good.
Obviously, there's...
There's a lot going on around the game with the CBA, and a lot of the older boys are sort
of fighting, not only for you guys, but the, like, the next crop coming through.
What's it been like going through those situations, and are you guys a big part of that, or just
let the older boys sort of deal with it?
How's it been?
Yeah, we sort of got, like, our older boys that deal with all that stuff.
Yeah, we just let us focus on footy, but I think the fans obviously get the wrong message.
I think we agree in that.
They don't really...
Yeah, 100.
...know the details, so, yeah, it is what it is.
Same as you?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, bro.
Just...
Just let the older boys do it, eh?
Yeah.
Let the older boys do it, man.
Obviously, you know, they...
Like, have I said, you know, the fans, like, think it's all about, like, the money and
stuff, but it's never going to do that, so, yeah, let the older boys look after, and we
just play footy.
All right.
Any interests outside of football?
Like, obviously, I'm someone who's transitioned from football and really enjoy that next little
phase.
I know you guys are, like, 21, 22, but do you have any interests outside of football?
No, I don't mind my golf.
Play golf on off days.
Hit them right?
Yeah, there's a few.
I've got a fair few.
Boys that play.
Good crew there, so...
Who's nice?
Who's good?
Birdo, bro.
He hits them like he kicks them, bro.
He hits them far as.
It's crazy.
But he doesn't even try.
Like, if he tried, he'd probably be one of the best, so...
Yeah.
He's good.
Yeah, I do that.
Do a bit of photography, like, taking photos.
I saw that, bro.
Yeah, film cameras.
When I go travelling, I always take my camera, so...
Yeah.
Yeah, I want to do a bit more travelling.
Went to America last year, and, yeah, I want to try and...
Where'd you go in America?
LA and New York.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, it was mad.
Did you love it?
Loved New York, yeah.
It was a good...
Perfect for photos and shit, eh?
Yeah, it showed up.
Went to a couple of games, NBA, NFL, so...
Trying to get into that now, yeah.
Into vlogging or anything?
Nah.
I don't really like putting myself on the camera.
I just like taking photos.
Do behind the scenes?
Yeah.
Behind the scenes.
Yeah.
What about you, bro?
Bro, yeah, I'm more a golfer, but I don't play golf, man.
I don't play golf.
Yeah.
Moses plays golf.
Mitch plays golf.
Yeah, but he's Aussie, bro.
He's not Lebanese.
Nah.
But I know a lot of Lebanese people, and they've always, like, got stuff going on in terms
of business or know people, so you sort of dive in that sort of space?
Yeah, eventually I want to, you know, be building duplexes and stuff, but...
No, that's...
Honestly, yeah, that's like...
Eventually I do want to start doing that, you know, being a developer or something.
You know, I don't know if it's...
You know, we grow up with all that stuff, so I love all that.
I'm interested in all that stuff, but right now, yeah, I just...
You know, if I'm being honest, just hang out with my family heaps, days off, and yeah,
sometimes at night, just have FIFA night with all the boys.
Yeah, so that's it, bro.
That's it.
That's who it is.
Yeah.
All right, boys, I just want to say thanks for jumping on.
I really appreciate your time, and good to get to know both of you, so wishing you guys
all the best for the rest of the season and the rest of your careers, so reach out if
you need anything.
No worries.
Thanks, bro.
Thanks for having us, bro.
